27 Sep Just Do It
I’ve recently started implementing a new personal organizational system in my life. This is a sign of God’s growth in me because I have never considered myself an organized person. I took the organizational system from a book by David Allen called “Getting Things Done.” There was one particular part of the system that has helped me and many others tremendously. Do you want the secret?
If it takes less than two minutes to do something, do it RIGHT NOW!
How many times have you thought, “I really need to text Joe,” or “I should email Debbie and see if she can come on Sunday”? How long does sending a text or writing an email on your smartphone actually take? These types of things that can worded and executed quickly. Many times we can make them more cumbersome than they need to be by making a simple question or statement overly formal or complicated. Then, we make a mental note that it needs to be done, but if your mental notes are anything like mine, they get blown away by the wind. Our brains naturally remember BIG things, but it’s actually the consistent, little two-minute actions that can lead to BIG results. Instead of letting yourself down time and time again by trying to remember things your brain was never meant to remember, Just Do It! Can you spare 30, 60, 90 or 120 seconds to make sure you share that thought, ask that question, or complete that task? Chances are that you can. And if you make this a practice, you’ll find your execution on your goals and responsibilities go through the roof!
