17 Jul Tithe = Trust
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” Malachi 3:10
Tithing can be a difficult concept to embrace. Without a healthy understanding, tithing can seem like paying dues or compensating God for blessings. Rest assured, God does not need a paycheck. The purpose of tithing is to recognize Who our resources come from, keep our hearts aligned with God’s heart of generosity, and exercise our trust in the One who is in control of it all.
Tithing is directly correlated with our trust. When God asks us to test Him by bringing the whole tithe, He is asking us to trust that He will provide not only for our basic needs but in abundance. When we return the tithe to the Lord we are making a tangible decision to trust God’s provision and power. Will you choose today to trust God with the resources He’s given you?
